with a stern, largely absent father more comfortable dealing with legality and fact than anything emotional and a strict, unnerving mother more comfortable dealing with things as they should be according to her religion than things as they are, with the constant physical reminder of a childhood illness that strangers can never seem to stop gawking at, it's something of a miracle that Shireen isn't too messed up of a kid. instead, she's inquisitive and even chipper at times, determined to learn as much as she can and read as much as she can, and as such she's grown into something of a stubborn, bright-eyed know-it-all.
